It's An Emergency!!!!!!!!

Tonight the Maldovarium was transformed into an Emergency Room and Holochuck Henley provided the soundtrack for the evening in the New London Hospital Emergency room, a place full of hot nurses, a doctor and part time ninja, and some of the strangest patients in the universe (we're not sure what has the Doctor's left hand so inflamed as he's being taken in - but there were some diagnoses that we won't discuss here . . . . . .

More medical evidence follows below.

Derelict Destroyed!

Another campaign waged out above New London resulting in the destruction of the Derelict at the hands of the brand new Dalek Saucer, designed by Simon Osei. Time Lords were called to defend against an onslaught of defense positions, Daleks and core reactor breaches. Guided by the Master (who promptly fled when the going was rather not going good) the Time Lords escaped in a Dalek Time Ship after taking the saucer. More on the saucer to come!

Jayne's Thing: "Let's Kill Hitler" - Preview Review!

So  . . . . what has The Doctor so sad as he listens to Amy on the Tardis phone's answering machine?

If you've seen the prequel to the Episode 8 restart of the 6th season entitled “Let's Kill Hitler”, you hear Amy entreating The Doctor to tell her what's going on with his search for Melody, the even though she knows that her daughter becomes the vaunted Dr River Song known far and wide as an intergalactic archeologist and Stormcage resident, incarcerated for killing “the greatest man she ever knew”.

Amy wants to actually be a mother and raise her daughter, which is actually very normal sentiment, a sentiment shared by the majority of woman who give birth to a child.  Evidently Amy has not made the connection that the child in the space suit, the Impossible Astronaut, is her daughter, as we all assume.  It could all change given Mr Moffat's penchant for messing with us.  For all we know, the young lady in the spacesuit, who we saw start to regenerate in a New York back alley is The Master's grand daughter.

Something tells me, and this is not a spoiler, simply speculation on my part, that the title of the next episode, “Let's Kill Hitler” has something to do with The Doctor's attempt to take Amy's and Rory's minds off of trying to actually find Melody, as in a scenario like this:

Amy: “So where's Melody?”

The Doctor: “I haven't been able to find her, no matter where I search she's nowhere to be found.  Maybe if, like when we lose something we just forget about it and the solution will come to us.”

Amy: “Doctor, this is my daughter we're talking about. . .  .”

The Doctor: “I know, it was just an idea, I am at my whits end here, I have looked everywhere, looked   for almost 200 years . .”

Amy: “But you've been gone a month.”

The Doctor: “Um . . . . . time machine, remember?

Amy: “OK so how do you suggest we take out minds off of finding my daughter?”

Rory enters from the Tardis wardrobe wearing an old RAF uniform.  Any see this and hatches an idea.

Amy: “Hey, let's go kill Hitler, that should take our minds off the search.”

The Doctor: “You know we can't do that.  You know, paradoxes and timey, wimey stuff.”

Amy: “Wait a minute, buster, didn't the entire universe come back into existence out of my mind?

The Doctor: “Um . . .  well.”

Amy and Rory: “Let's go kill Hitler.  It'll be a lark.”

OK OK – I am sure that will NOT happen.  But the big question out there is what has the Doctor so sad as he listens to Amy's message.  Here's what I think.

Amy is dead, or the Doctor thinks she's dead and is listening to the answering machine recording just to hear her voice again.  This is some thing that's very common with those who are survived by people who die suddenly.

Based on the low lighting in the console room and the Doctor's look, to me it appears that both he and Idris are in mourning and he is conflicted.

The Doctor, despite his many protestations to the contrary, has manipulated time and he is now in a quandry, does he purposely manipulate time to bring her and Rory back?

To throw this idea 180 degrees away from what I just said, it is possible that the Doctor, knowing that Melody is responsible for his death in 2010, has killed her and there is no way that he can tell Amy that.

The Prequel to Episode 8 is, I think, more a prequel to the season and not just to the upcoming “Let's Kill Hitler” in that we will eventually make our way to that scene as the 2nd half of the season progresses.  That's my theory and I'm sticking to it – what do you think?

I'd love to hear from you.

Enter the Derelict!

A special treat for New London System/Bad Wolf owners.. an SOS from your console warns you of a lost ship in the vortex. Perhaps investigate with a few hints as to what's coming to New London!

This location is found on the NLS/BW database on "all" or "RPG" as "Derelict". Some freebies to be found, and some danger to encounter!

This exclusive location will hopefully open out to other rezzers in the near future. Quite honestly, there was only room for one in this build (its very tight and claustrophobic), and being an owner of NLS, it made sense that space was awarded to NLS/BW!

Welcome to New London!

New London Blog has had a little facelift!

So who are we?

New London is a group of Doctor Who and London fans ran by Kat Kassner and Laredo Lowtide. Kat's vision for New London is a fair and friendly working community that embraces all who are likewise fair and friendly.

The sim is non profit (in fact, like most sims in Second Life, it technically runs at a loss), with the in-sim company "New London Systems" helping to bridge the costs. If we break even, it's a rare and great day. Point is, the sim isn't here to make money, money just keeps it here!

There are a few Doctor Who sims in Second Life, New London doesn't consider itself "solely" a Doctor Who sim. We have as much iconic relevance to London as we do to Doctor Who, with Big Ben, Albert Hall, BT Tower, Tower of London, Tower Bridge and even the Millennium Bridge as sim landmarks.

While New London very much works to simply provide a sim people will enjoy, we do stretch our arms a little further. We have several in-world groups that support New London and we support them in return. The sim operates several Second Life groups to support a wider community than New London:

England in SL - a network for England based sims/events working together to promote their events and provide easy navigation for visitors looking to find great English focused places within Second Life.

Doctor Who? - a group for any Doctor Who fan!

FAI (Fans against Intolerance) - a new group to strength those who suffer bullying and antagonism and being ostracised in Second Life (and believe me, it's very prevalent, especially in Doctor Who sims)

So far as popularity goes, New London has gone from strength to strength. So far as traffic statistics go, we've been the most visited Doctor Who sim for the last few years with occasional notable exceptions. We're one of the top London orientated establishments as well. Statistics are never the be all and end all as to whether a place is good/interesting/worth visiting, but for us it's a nice acknowledgement the work we do here (and we work far too hard) is well received and enjoyed. In the end, that's all that matters. We're not suggesting popularity makes us the "best" Doctor Who/London sim, that's something for an individual decide, but we are proud of the fact we have entertained and enriched Second Life members.

So how do we entertain?

We're a sim which has always maintained regular events and entertainment. We have weekend music events, often with fancy dress and prizes. We cater for both the London and the Sci-Fi in how we theme these. We have live singers and a wide array of regular and guest DJs.

We also host "Radio Theatre", an audio drama establishment build in homage to the BBC building in London. There we put on a variety of dramas - some from Big Finish, authorised by Big Finish themselves (so please go to BigFinish.com and support their fantastic Doctor Who and beyond range).

We have a local pub that does occasional pub quizzes and music nights.

We have regular fishing events who enjoy using the New London Thames as a place to make a catch or two!

For the Doctor Who fan we sometimes put on Dalek/Time Lord battles in some of role play zones - we have several role play zones high above New London, including The Moon, Dalek Saucer, The Ood Sphere, the Maldovarium and even a Black Hole!

For those who want to shop, aside from New London Systems, we have a shop zone. You'll find lots of big names in Doctor Who SL merchandise from Novatech, Bad Wolf, DCL, HA! and 5th Dimension.

Every year we do annual events including the incredibly popular summer 3 day festival,Whofest in our New Greenwich Park and TARDIS Expo - where TARDIS makers from around the grid come together to show off their latest offerings.

We are also linked to Doctor Who online magazine Kasterborous.com, who have helped build a great Doctor Who Exhibition above our popular Freebie Factory!

In the end, we're just a group of Doctor Who and London fans looking to entertain, chat, have fun and enjoy Second Life.

So pop by. We have a friendly staff who are keen to ensure your time in New London is fun and grief free!
