First News Round Up of 2010

News from the hungover-news desk.

Blogtor Who have found an extract of the End of Time Part 2 commentary on the Official Who Site. Couldn't spot it myself so its well hidden! Follow the link!

David Tennant's LAST interview
before leaving as the Doctor! Have a look on the BBC news site - that leads us into the grump bandwagon against Tennant... read on!

Mail gets on the "Too Much Tennant" bandwagon. I wouldn't mind this topical complaint about the amount he's appeared on the BBC in the last few weeks if he was just appearing on chat shows and plugging Doctor Who. But he's a popular personality in his own right, who is big news for ending his role as an iconic character and people are interested in HIM - so where's the issue? He's not just been plugging the show, he's been presenting, acting, taking part in odd festive events. He won't be doing it much longer! Well, it makes a story, so if you want to listen to the Mail opinion whine, here we go.

High Appreciation for End of Time and Too Much Tennant?

Too Much Tennant?
Source: Kasterborus.com

Excerpt from Kasterborus.com:
"The BBC has come under attack from The Mail this week under accusations of populism as the public service broadcaster utilized the services of several actors in more than one show, including Doctor Who star David Tennant.

In the article entitled “How Doctor Who (with a little help from Hamlet) took over the BBC” (which interestingly took 3 people to write) the fascist rag noted that Tennant will have made 75 appearances on TV and radio by the end of the Christmas period December 14th to January 3rd, 2010. Interestingly many of these appearances are repeats, rather than Doctor Who promo work." Read more...

End of Time All Time High?
Source: The Doctor Who News Page:

"The End of Time Part One
received an AI figure of 87. The Appreciation Index, or AI, figure is a measure of how much the audience liked a programme. A score over 85 is considered excellent. Doctor Who had the highest score of the day on BBC One or BBC Two. The only programme to score higher on the main five channels was the film Gladiator on ITV1, which scored 89 with a much lower audience."

While it seems fan reaction was a little mixed, for those the show was made for, RTD's epic first part finale was a GREAT success!

Snippet of upcoming Tennant/RTD interview on official Doctor Who website!

A preview of a one hour radio special between Davis and Tennant is available to listen to on the official Doctor Who Website. Here's their blurb:

Executive Producer and Lead Writer Russell T Davies and the Doctor himself, David Tennant, will be discussing Doctor Who in a special one-hour show for BBC Radio 2.

In Who on Who? Russell and David give a unique insiders' point of view about their hugely successful time on the show, discussing the adventures they created and the stories they were asked to make but didn't... They reflect on why they've chosen to move on and look ahead to the future - both their own and that of Doctor Who.

It's a fascinating and entertaining show and to give you a taster we've an exclusive extract. Who on Who? was produced by Malcolm Prince (pictured in one of the images above) who previously produced Project: Who?

You can catch Who on Who? on BBC Radio 2 on Tuesday, 29 December at 5.00pm.
