Enter the Derelict!
A special treat for New London System/Bad Wolf owners.. an SOS from your console warns you of a lost ship in the vortex. Perhaps investigate with a few hints as to what's coming to New London!
This location is found on the NLS/BW database on "all" or "RPG" as "Derelict". Some freebies to be found, and some danger to encounter!
This exclusive location will hopefully open out to other rezzers in the near future. Quite honestly, there was only room for one in this build (its very tight and claustrophobic), and being an owner of NLS, it made sense that space was awarded to NLS/BW!

Welcome to New London!
New London Blog has had a little facelift! So who are we?
New London is a group of Doctor Who and London fans ran by Kat Kassner and Laredo Lowtide. Kat's vision for New London is a fair and friendly working community that embraces all who are likewise fair and friendly.
The sim is non profit (in fact, like most sims in Second Life, it technically runs at a loss), with the in-sim company "New London Systems" helping to bridge the costs. If we break even, it's a rare and great day. Point is, the sim isn't here to make money, money just keeps it here!
There are a few Doctor Who sims in Second Life, New London doesn't consider itself "solely" a Doctor Who sim. We have as much iconic relevance to London as we do to Doctor Who, with Big Ben, Albert Hall, BT Tower, Tower of London, Tower Bridge and even the Millennium Bridge as sim landmarks.
While New London very much works to simply provide a sim people will enjoy, we do stretch our arms a little further. We have several in-world groups that support New London and we support them in return. The sim operates several Second Life groups to support a wider community than New London:
England in SL - a network for England based sims/events working together to promote their events and provide easy navigation for visitors looking to find great English focused places within Second Life.
Doctor Who? - a group for any Doctor Who fan!
FAI (Fans against Intolerance) - a new group to strength those who suffer bullying and antagonism and being ostracised in Second Life (and believe me, it's very prevalent, especially in Doctor Who sims)
So far as popularity goes, New London has gone from strength to strength. So far as traffic statistics go, we've been the most visited Doctor Who sim for the last few years with occasional notable exceptions. We're one of the top London orientated establishments as well. Statistics are never the be all and end all as to whether a place is good/interesting/worth visiting, but for us it's a nice acknowledgement the work we do here (and we work far too hard) is well received and enjoyed. In the end, that's all that matters. We're not suggesting popularity makes us the "best" Doctor Who/London sim, that's something for an individual decide, but we are proud of the fact we have entertained and enriched Second Life members.
So how do we entertain?

We also host "Radio Theatre", an audio drama establishment build in homage to the BBC building in London. There we put on a variety of dramas - some from Big Finish, authorised by Big Finish themselves (so please go to BigFinish.com and support their fantastic Doctor Who and beyond range).
We have a local pub that does occasional pub quizzes and music nights.
We have regular fishing events who enjoy using the New London Thames as a place to make a catch or two!
For the Doctor Who fan we sometimes put on Dalek/Time Lord battles in some of role play zones - we have several role play zones high above New London, including The Moon, Dalek Saucer, The Ood Sphere, the Maldovarium and even a Black Hole!
For those who want to shop, aside from New London Systems, we have a shop zone. You'll find lots of big names in Doctor Who SL merchandise from Novatech, Bad Wolf, DCL, HA! and 5th Dimension.
Every year we do annual events including the incredibly popular summer 3 day festival,Whofest in our New Greenwich Park and TARDIS Expo - where TARDIS makers from around the grid come together to show off their latest offerings.
We are also linked to Doctor Who online magazine Kasterborous.com, who have helped build a great Doctor Who Exhibition above our popular Freebie Factory!
In the end, we're just a group of Doctor Who and London fans looking to entertain, chat, have fun and enjoy Second Life.
So pop by. We have a friendly staff who are keen to ensure your time in New London is fun and grief free!

New London Systems: Hyperloom T45 has arrived - but what is it?
The NLS Hyperloom T45 HUD, Exteriors and Add-On Consoles have been released!
Those who have followed this blog will know of New London Systems consoles. Those who have a longer Second Life memory will know of Hyperloom, who have been somewhat quiet for the past year. Well the two have merged to bring you a BRAND new system to SL like never done before!
So what's so "BRAND new"?
Well the ideology is. Before hand, companies have offered those who have money and land a console - and a range of exteriors to buy to use with them. What the NLS Hyperloom T45 system does is support all Second Life users, from the casual to the hardcore. Here's how:

The basic product is the NLS Hyperloom T45 HUD. This is a HUD you wear that rezzes unique exteriors that feature Direct Travel technology. Simply put, you create your own notecard navigation database in which you can navigate across sims using your exteriors. Get into your exterior in one sim, appear in your exterior in the next sim - all with full time travel effects! The HUD has features like the unique security HADS which propels the TARDIS 15 seconds into the future out of harms way, and the self destruct - blow that TARDIS up!
The HUD and the range of exteriors are cheap, fun and professionally designed. So at the core of NLS is this great console-less travel device! Great for the casual user who doesn't have interest in consoles or perhaps doesn't want to own land to put one one! Or for the guy who just likes appearing in really good looking police boxes!
But what if you want more...?
What if you want to spend out on a console for your land?
Well this is where the T45 HUD can utilise some of our add-ons. First and most important is the NLS Hyperloom Add-On Consoles! Let's talk about those!
These consoles use upgraded and revised Hyperloom technology. They are customisable and created to feel complex and interactive. The add on consoles work with your T45 HUD and exteriors to give you a greater time travel experience.
For those who have used New London Systems consoles before this is VERY different! Yes the consoles still EXPLODE when you regenerate with one of the New London freebie regenerations, they will explode and steam in flight if you desire... but the set is far, far easier.. the technology is far far more advanced... and yes, the prices are still some of the cheapest in Second Life! Here's some highlights into what the new system has to offer!

First and foremost of these consoles is the navigation system. These consoles have been designed to give you great landings through FOUR specific modes - on top of the HUD's "Direct Travel" - so in essence, NLS gives you 5 modes of travel!
Manual: Input a specific sim co-ordinate into the console!
Notecard Navigation: The console has a location database the used can customise - just like the one used in the T45 HUD (and the console can let you chose between these two databases of locations as you desire). Set a location, exit the console, and your exterior will rez as you land.
Random Navigation: Hit a button, let the computer randomly take you ANYWHERE in SL. Who knows where!
Rezzer Navigation: This is a very unique indeed. It is a rezzer system - fixed points were you've laid a prim that will materialise a TARDIS for you. Great ways to land in grouped areas. However the Hyperloom rezzers offer something very interesting:
Shared Rezzers! Yes, you can share your rezzers with your friends. Let them have your unique rezzer code and they can land on your landing point - even "nest" on your exterior (see Logopolis to see Tom Baker's TARDIS do just that to the Master's!)

What's so cool about the shared rezzer system is it doesn't rely on external databases as rezzer systems usually do. As you can imagine Second Lifers, dealing with issues in-world, such as lag is bad enough, but external databases can - though not always - compound issues for the traveller; you're dealing with more variables that have the chance of error. With the NLS Hyperloom rezzers its all in Second Life. This also means if NLS or Hyperloom withdrew from Second Life, you have no fear of losing the external server database! You're product will work without us! The database is in your very TARDIS!
The console system is very cool in many different ways. Involving, reliable and fun. But say your SL spouse won't let you have a console room in their castle.....?
The NLS Doorway: A simple Doorway that will "Land" you in your exterior, and where your T45 exterior can deposit you if you click "home" on the HUD. Basically a way to enjoy time travel with a simple set of Police Box doors that can be placed against a wall in a dungeon, or attic or spaceship without upsetting the spouse and allowing you to enjoy your time travel fun with a link back to home!

With screwdrivers, Tissue compression eliminations and whole assortment of planned products to interact with the T-45 Hud, we hope we can offer you a reliable fun range that fits how you want to enjoy Second Life.
And the best bit? The money you spend with us is well spent. It doesn't get drawn out of Second Life, it is invested back into the community. It goes to keep New London alive and vibrant and encourage creativity in-world. Buying NLS invests in New London. So if you're reading this blog, and we presume you do so because you enjoy the New London sim, that might be an extra boon in buying New London Systems Hyperloom T45 products!

NLS War TARDIS modding!
We've featured New London System owner Simon Osei's mod work on the blog before - then it was for the NLS Galaxy Explorer (click here to see what he did). This time its the WAR Tardis. All NLS Time Capsules are mod, so you can adjust and change them as you see fit. Have a look at some of the great work he's done. I love the depth and sheer expansiveness to his work.
Money from the NLS Time Capsules goes to supporting the Doctor Who Zone sim.

These next two are works in progress!

Done some mods to NLS stuff yourself? Find Harold Saxondale or Laredo Lowtide in world and we'll post them here!

Galaxy Explorer Mod!

New London Systems, the Doctor Who Zone's shop to help fund the sim costs, recently released their first two in-world time travel machines. The feedback has been very positive, but we felt we had to showcase this particular modification of the Galaxy Explorer by Simon Osei. You can see the difference between the advert and the redux by Simon below. Nice work!

The Doctor Who Zone A-1 Sci-Fi Mall!

Lowtide lurking outside the A1 Mall, just north of Big Ben (the entry point into The Doctor Who Zone's New London area). Memorial Way, the plaza dedicated to those who in the Doctor Who legacy have passed on to the other side, is the entry point to the A1 mall. That's the building there. The one with "A1" on it. Inside you can either go to the left and take the elevator to the shopping floor, or the right and head up through the magic door. Or you can play Cookies in the foyer. Your call.
So you decided to head to the mall? Good on you! This is the first floor! Hyperloom, Hands of Omega, Novatech, Snook, Jw security, Archangel network, Gallifur, M&M, Space cowboy, Sium.. all rest on the first floor. That's TARDIS systems, organic life, great simulators, clothes, security. But there's more. Up to le Second floor boys and girls..
Take the stairs or the lift up to the second floor - here there are a whole host of smaller but no less fascinating stores. Thomas Conover, Vortech, SF labs, Neurolabs, ER, She Wants Revenge, Box of Waffles, Scifi Designs, Blackkat Choppers, Satyrkitty, The Hoi Shop, Vk Labs, Compton Constructions, Allspark Labs.. We have Transformers, Doctor Who motorbikes, sexy clothing, Star Trek clothing, Stargate items and a host of eclectic wonders!
So if you have a few Lindens and looking for a really A-1 Sci-fi Mall, why not visit the, erm, A1 Sci-fi Mall?
