The Doctor Taking Over America

This is a report full of all kinds of news!


Some of you may already know this but we now have the titles of three more of the the Season 7 episodes to go along with "Asylum of the Daleks" and they are "A Town Called Mercy", "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship" (I can't possibly think of what the inspiration for that title was), and "Cubed".


I guess having set several stories here in the United States ("Dalek", "Daleks in Manhattan", "The Impossible Astronaut" and the 5th episode of the upcoming season - which was actually filmed, in part, in New York City) it's only natural that The Doctor and his crew has caught the eye of the American media, in the form of the cover of this week's upcoming Entertainment Weekly.  The article has to do with all kinds of shows that have cult followings of fans who are totally dedicated to their favorites and Doctor Who is featured with the likes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, The X Files and Battlestar Galactica to name a few.  This will be available in the US this Friday, July 27th and in the UK on Wednesday, August 1st and is available here  http://www.newsstand.co.uk/

Last but not least we over here in America will be treated to 4 documentaries related to Doctor Who in the weeks running up to the presumed premier at the end of August.  Every Saturday in the Doctor's usual 9:00pm time slot, on consecutive Saturdays, we'll have The Science of Doctor Who on August 4th, The Women of Doctor Who on August 11th, The TimeyWhimey of Doctor Who on August 18th  and The Destinations of Doctor Who on August 25th.

Doctor Who at Comic Con

The annual geek fest known as Comic-Con is once again upon us and the people of San Diego, CA and there has been no shortage of stars abounding from just about every show and upcoming movie you can think of.


Not to be left out Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill (in his 1st visit) are in attendance and have dropped in for a couple of sessions of interviews - one with a past member of the Tardis crew and one a panel sponsired by Nerd Machine - here they are for your viewing pleasure (BEWARE THE BOWLER!).

Marc Warner is back with some Summer time Who News - covering some intereting bits about Jenna -Louise Coleman - a possible Ice Warriors return, the young ladies who won the annual Blue Peter "Script to Screen" Doctor Who contest, the "Eternity Clock" game and, for the old timers out there, a speculation on The Doctor and Sutekh of the Osirians becoming roomies - totally fun :)

CRAIG WINS!!!!!!!!

OK - I hate everyone who refers to an actor by their best known character's name - if you like an actor that much - you should know their real name.

I swear I would be a millionaire tonight if I had put some money down with a British bookie (who evidently take bets on anything - or so they tell us over here in the US) if I had put even 5 dollars down on James Corden winning the "Best Actor in A Play" Tony Award last night.

In an amazing show of either not taking the easy way out or actually seeing the show they were voting on, the voters for the Atoinette Perry Award for Theatrical Excellence picked the underdog. 

James Corden was up against James Earl Jones, Philip Seymour Hoffman (Corden's favorite actor - as you will see), John Leithgow and Frank Langella - a formidable bunch of American theater/movie veterans, I know I personally gave him no hope though I fell asleep during the telecast pulling for him.

I still have no idea what the show "One Man - Two Guvnors" is about, but Corden must have blown the voters away for them to have voted him BEST over the field mentioned above.

I kind of got a little misty during his acceptance speech, which is here.

From The Type 40 to the Reasonably Priced Car

OK - I know this was probably shown over in the UK back in February, but it just showed up on BBC America this week - Matt Smith's drive around the Top Gear Track in their Reasonably Priced Car.  I won't tell you where he came out on the list of the other 2 new series Doctors (Tennant and Eccleston) or Billie Piper - you'll just have to see.  So for those of you in the UK and US who didn't see it - here is Matt Smith's trip around the Top Gear track.

Who News - Episode 3

Even though we are making our way through the loooooong hiatus between Seasons 6 and 7 - there's still Doctor Who News out there to be had and Marc Boxen, along with Nonamei Scribe bring it to you in their latest installment of Who News!

Toast Of The Great White Way

The gentleman who played the The Doctor's roommate and soccer pal and Stormageddon's father, James Corden, has been nominated for a slew of awards this stage season for his role in the comedy "One Man - Two Guvnors".

He has been nominated as "Best Actor in a Play" (as opposed to musicals - they have their own categories) for all of the big ones and some of the lesser known awards, the Tony, The Drama Desk Award (which covers Broadway, Off Broadway and off-off Broadway - I think those have to have at least a New York Zip Code), the Outer Critics Circle (publisher of Playbill) and the Drama League (support a variety of stage related projects in New York).
